About Aspire
Our history
Hamilton Residential Trust was formed in 1989, as a response to the closure of big institutions and people being supported to live within the community.
In 2015, we became Aspire - Community Support, and are proud to be a dynamic service with a number of properties, a supported independent living service and a broad range of staff skills and expertise.
As a service we pride ourselves on providing individualised services for the people we support. Our size and approach enables us to be flexible, nimble and adaptable. We work in partnership with people we support, staff and also organisations within the sector to meet our vision.
We are excited to continue to evolve with the introduction of more flexible support and funding in the New Zealand disability sector.
Our board
Not-for-profit organisations like Aspire are governed by a board of trustees, who provide strategic direction and think about the ‘big picture’. We are lucky to have a board that thoroughly believes in the work we are doing. Supporting the functions of the board we have two separate committees: Audit & Finance, and People Performance, Quality & Wellbeing.
Our board members bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role of governing Aspire. View their profiles here.
Aspire – Community Support has a key partnership with The HRT Property Holdings Trust from which it leases property.

Donate to Aspire - Community Support
Aspire - Community Support is a not for profit charitable trust. Just like many non-profits, we have a wish list of projects we would just love to complete, but are lacking the funds to get these underway. If you would like to donate to support one of these projects please contact our Finance Manager for more information. All donations to charities like ours are tax deductible.
Some of our discretionary projects are:
- Volunteer reimbursement for expenses and milage
- Wheelchair weigh scale
- Beautification of our properties
- Purchase of a trampoline for one of the houses where several young people live.
Of course, we also welcome inquiries from people who may like to leave a legacy gift to Aspire in their will.
